Hmmmmm..... *thinking* Not really sure what to tell you. Either you can piggy back and post what you want to say in a thread already started, OR do up your post and what, not then send it though email to someone and have them do it. Either way sucks I know, but that's all I can tell you for a fix. Cannon Cocker

I admit that I to am angry that the Guard and Reserve got left out. But after stepping back, looking at the much bigger picture, I can see that the leadership went in with hopes of getting an " All " medal. The sad fact is the leadership had to give up something, to get something in return. If they (the leadership) didnt give up the " All" then the Honorable Lady from Maine wouldn't have helped Us, the collective group.Am I in the leadership? NoDo I want to be in the leadership? NoAm I willing to support the leadership? YesHave I done My part to educate those around Me? YesWill I continue to educate others? YesIn life we set goals for ourselfs. Do we always attain those goals? No. We have to give up certain things. And those things that we gave up in the past, we often try and attain them later on down the road. While an " All " medal is off the table, it doesnt mean, that it we give up. It means that later we can go back and revisit the issue. Once the medal is passed and enacted, then we can point to other medals and say, " There, back when that medal was first passed it didnt include everyone, but now it does. We wish to change the CWSM criteria to include everyone"All of us, should step back, and look at the greater good. Will it hurt? Yes. Was it painful to have to let some aspect go? Yes. Is it painful now to even think that the leadership had to give up something in which to get ahead? Of Course. Do I think that the leadership did what they thought was best for Us as a group? YesI don't write letters, educate or make phones for Myself. I write letters, educate, and make phone calls on behalf of General James Van Fleet, PFC Walter Boyd, Major Arthur Nicholson, the crew of the USS Scorpion, the crew of the USS Thresher, and the hundreds of others.I write letters, educate, and make phone calls so what they did, will be remembered.Thank you,Cannon Cocker

PNV, The answer is Henry V...here is the whole speech....the area in red is the one to which I think that you are referring. Enter the KINGWESTMORELAND. O that we now
had here
But one ten thousand of those men
in England
That do no work to-day!
KING. What's he that wishes
so?
My cousin Westmoreland? No, my fair
cousin;
If we are mark'd to die, we are enow
To do our country loss; and if to
live,
The fewer men, the greater share of
honour.
God's will! I pray thee, wish not
one man more.
By Jove, I am not covetous for gold,
Nor care I who doth feed upon my cost;
It yearns me not if men my garments
wear;
Such outward things dwell not in my
desires.
But if it be a sin to covet honour,
I am the most offending soul alive.
No, faith, my coz, wish not a man
from England.
God's peace! I would not lose so great
an honour
As one man more methinks would share
from me
For the best hope I have. O, do not
wish one more!
Rather proclaim it, Westmoreland,
through my host,
That he which hath no stomach to this
fight,
Let him depart; his passport shall
be made,
And crowns for convoy put into his
purse;
We would not die in that man's company
That fears his fellowship to die with
us.
This day is call'd the feast of Crispian.
He that outlives this day, and comes
safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when this day
is nam'd,
And rouse him at the name of Crispian.
He that shall live this day, and see
old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his
neighbours,
And say 'To-morrow is Saint Crispian.'
Then will he strip his sleeve and
show his scars,
And say 'These wounds I had on Crispian's
day.'
Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,
But he'll remember, with advantages,
What feats he did that day. Then shall
our names,
Familiar in his mouth as household
words-
Harry the King, Bedford and Exeter,
Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and
Gloucester-
Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb'red.
This story shall the good man teach
his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go
by,
From this day to the ending of the
world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood
with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so
vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they
were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles
any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's
day.
Shuman14 and LebanonGrenadaEraVet, You bled like I did, You sweated like I did, You missed Home and family like I did. Your served your country like I did, and if needed you would have laid down your lives, like I would have. Your are My Brothers. Our bond was born in a war. And NO one shall ever change My mind about that. Cannon Cocker

Great news!!!To My Brothers and Sisters in the Guard and Reserve, I will keep up the fight. Your efforts in helping Us, wont go unrewarded. Before the ink is even dried, I am already writing to have this modified. Even though I have hit stone wall after stone wall in getting My two Sen from Cali on board with this. I will do everything I can to get this modified. With today being the 20th Anniversary, My eyes and ears are pointed at Our Nations Capital, where I hope to hear that the Commander and Chief has done the right thing and recognized The Cold War Veterans, ALL of us.Should the Commander and Chief not do the right thing, then I will double My efforts in doing what I can to get this modified.Cannon Cocker

Steve,Although this was posted some time ago, I wanted to offer My, " Your very welcome".Each of Us that put on Our uniforms did it for numerous reasons, I think that the main one that runs though all of those that did serve and have served, is that our children and grand children grow up in a world that is safe.Deep down I wanted and hoped to make the world a better place, even if it meant losing an arm, a leg, or my life.Seeing the world the way it is today, if the world powers would agree that they would stop the fighting and live in peace for 50 years, provided that only one more person was to die, then for My family, My country, My world, I would lay down My life for that cause.I would leave this world knowing that I had in fact made it a better place, for everyone.Cannon Cocker

Brothers,Please be reminded that this forum is seen by those that wish to learn more about The Cold War, as well as what we are trying to do. This forum is seen by different VSO's, as well as people not part of any VSO.This forum which can be viewed by the public at large, is not the place in which to smash, bash, thrash, or trash other VSO's.Each of the VSO's have their own agendas. And we have Ours, which is to establish a Cold War Service Medal.Smashing, Bashing, Thrashing, Trashing other VSO's hurts our cause. I think that it also might drive people away from wishing to aide us.I can fully understand anger and the frustration, however this is not the place in which to vent such things.Cannon Cocker

I have been asked if I would be willing to go in to a school and speak for an Hour. I was told that I could think it over, and then if I wanted too, I would be allowed to educate students on the Cold War.So Brothers and Sisters of the Cold War, I need ammo. Once I get enough ammo I am going to do up a lesson plan , and make a list of the talking points.What ever kind of ammo or a point that you want the public to know. Leave it here.Cannon Cocker
