I don't know where to begin with this. I want to warn you all of the dangers with morphine. I can't tell you all that has happened to me because it keeps coming back to me in bits and pieces. I've been in the hospital twice in the last two weeks. First week was for four days. During that period I had a total of 48 mg, this week for a two day stay I'm not sure how much I had. I have alienated the Montgomery medical community. You will get no sympathy from the medical community, espicially if your angry outbursts have been aimed at them. I don't know where this will all end. Before this all started I was a pretty normal guy with only depression . It's now 7AM after another horrible night. Remember the prayer "if i should die before I wake"? For me it has changed, "now I lay down to sleep I pray the lord my soul to keep, if I should die before I wake, thank you lord'   I had never had morphine before...

USAREUR Jon,

I prayed for you.  I have had morphine several times when I had kidney stones.  For me, it was relief from indescribable pain.  It felt like everything just melted away...all the hurt...it was like it was happening to someone else.  Hang in there.  The medical staff are professionals.  They will do their jobs and take care of you.

God hears us.  God cares. 

O FATHER of mercies and God of all comfort, our only help in time of need; We humbly beseech thee to behold, visit, and relieve thy sick servant Jon for whom our prayers are desired. Look upon him with the eyes of thy mercy; comfort him with a sense of thy goodness; preserve him from the temptations of the enemy; and give him patience under his affliction. Jon;  Good to read your doing better. I know the feeling of morphine, I have used it many times. It is hard on the mind, But it does help deal with the pain. hang in there mate.

MISSION

The American Cold War Veterans is a nonpartisan 501c nonprofit veterans service organization incorporated in the State of Florida and founded on August 18, 2007 at The Truman Library in Independence, MO. As a group we are dedicated to all of our Brother and Sister Veterans, with special dedication to those who served during the Cold War era September 1945 to December 1991. NDAA 2002 - FACT


The NDAA 2002 was passed by congress October 2001 signed into Law Dec. 28 2001, In the NDAA that was approved by both houses, signed into law by the President, was the Sense of Congress to authorize the Campaign Medal for service in the Cold War.

NATIONAL DEFENSE AUTHORIZATION ACT FOR FISCAL YEAR 2002

115 STAT. 1118 PUBLIC LAW 107–107—DEC. 28, 2001 Code, that the award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to that individual is warranted and that a waiver of time restrictions prescribed by law for recommendation for such award is recommended.

SEC. 556. SENSE OF CONGRESS ON ISSUANCE OF CERTAIN MEDALS.
It is the sense of Congress that the Secretary of Defense should consider authorizing—

  1. the issuance of a campaign medal, to be known as the Korea Defense Service Medal, to each person who while a member of the Armed Forces served in the Republic of Korea, or the waters adjacent thereto, during the period beginning on July 28, 1954, and ending on such date thereafter as the Secretary considers appropriate;

  2. the issuance of a campaign medal, to be known as the Cold War Service Medal, to each person who while a member of the Armed Forces served satisfactorily on active duty during the Cold War; and

  3. the award of the Vietnam Service Medal to any member or former member of the Armed Forces who was awarded the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for participation in military operations designated as Operation Frequent Wind arising from the evacuation of Vietnam on April 29 and 30, 1975.


The Medal was not created! Why?
