Glen,

I found some info here http://www.inchem.org/documents/cicads/cicads/cicad12.htm

I can't get the link to work properly, try copy and paste

You can also find lawyers who will handle cases. Google maganese get a lot of stuff.

Glen,

From your post I'm not sure where you got involved with manganese, I would guess when you were on active duty in the artillery unit. From a little google check the dust is the most harmful to the human body.

Google NIOSH and OSHA. And get yourself a good lawyer. While you may have been told you have manganese poisoning and the Military is not interested I think a lawyer could make them very interested.

There is so much missing from your post. Did anyone in the military warn you about manganese? I worked for the Federal Government and was involved with hazardous materials. I can't speak for the military but as a civilian employee of uncle sam we were required to keep a book with fact sheets on all materials and explain to employees the dangers involved.

As well as Niosh and Osha there will be an equivilent agency in the state where exposure took place. I'm not sure if the military is required to deal with the state agency though.

Glen, don't let them off the hook, get a lawyer.

Good luck and keep us informed.

Jon one of the major problems I have is  the use of  lawyers as some shall take 1/3 of any award or even more, while VSO's have not made much headway when it comes to the VA backlog I have to wonder how much better a Lawyer will fare even if using the court system as the wall is built by the VA ?

My question then becomes whom is best served in the end by all this and at what cost to whom, while it may seem on the surface the service member will get a more timley judgement at what price will they pay as well what would be the time frame to recive the award 5,10,15 or 20 years down the road ?

Many using VSO's have been done right by them for FREE till the red tape games come into play just how much better will lawyers do in whole or in part compared to them?

As for the VA the history speaks for itself push away veterans deserving or not an stall till they give up or died by playing the red tape olympics at this point given the back log they should be awarded the Gold !
