What the heck is it with Democrat presidents and their proclivity to release sensitive missile technology to communist China?  Bill Clinton did it back in the gay 90's and now Barak Obama is doing it again in 2009.

The fundamental question is...WHY?

I don't get it.  Why are we giving up missile technology to a nation that has nuclear weapons and that has a history of being less than friendly toward us and our interests.  The PRC is a communist nation.  They have senior officials recently on record saying that they hate us.  So what is the response of the current administration?  Why, lift the restrictions on missile technology sales to them, of course!!!

As for the Chinese hating us, here is the quote and the link:

Luo Ping, a director-general at the China Banking Regulatory Commission, said after a speech in New York on Wednesday that China would continue to buy Treasuries in spite of its misgivings about US finances.

“Except for US Treasuries, what can you hold?” he asked. “Gold? You don’t hold Japanese government bonds or UK bonds. US Treasuries are the safe haven. For everyone, including China, it is the only option.”

Mr Luo, whose English tends toward the colloquial, added: “We hate you guys. Once you start issuing $1 trillion-$2 trillion [$1,000bn-$2,000bn] . . .we know the dollar is going to depreciate, so we hate you guys but there is nothing much we can do.” (emphasis added)

On 12 June, 1987 at the Brandenburg Gate, West Berlin, President Ronald Reagan said, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!"

On 9 November, 1989 THE WALL CAME DOWN !!!

donnknow; once again I have to respond to your post. If I would want to read the stupid comments on newsvine and other political discussion boards ,I would go there and not on the ACWV forums. This is America, and you do have the right to voice your opinnion. Please do it on newsvine and not here Thank You.

To George:  Well George, it's a case of following the money exchange, isn't it.  They're ass deep in our paper and want concessions to continue to be so; and apparently the decision makers feel obliged, without regard of sovereignty or the US Constitution.  You know why the Cold Warrior is reviled and dismissed as irrelevant; here's why, we're too damned intelligent for them and we do know what we stand for; then and now.

Honoring Cold War Veterans on NPR Weekend America 12-27-08

MISSION

The American Cold War Veterans is a nonpartisan 501c nonprofit veterans service organization incorporated in the State of Florida and founded on August 18, 2007 at The Truman Library in Independence, MO. Our Mission is to bring respect, recognition and awareness to Veterans of the Cold War era no matter what branch of service, whether active duty, reserve or National Guard. We are committed to honoring the sacrifices made by millions of American men and women during the Cold War, especially those who paid the ultimate price of life or liberty. We intend to see that the Cold War's history is completely and accurately understood by people everywhere. We are united in these goals and speak with one voice.

Were Cold War veterans casualties of the Iraq War planning?

We will continue to fight!
